Who is Gatis Eglitis?

Before Exante

Gatis Eglitis gained international experience in business development, trading and institutional sales before founding Exante. He started his career as an Institutional Sales Trader and then as an Institutional Business Sales Manager at Saxo Bank.

As a member of the executive and investment committees in Malta, he co-founded Exante in 2011. Gatis was promoted to managing partner at EXT ltd in 2016, after five years. He is responsible for Exante's strategic planning and business development.

Gatis' international outlook and professional insight in financial markets has enabled him to become an integral part of Exante’s business development team. They have played a vital role in making Exante a global service that connects investors and markets around the globe.

Gatis Eglitis's experience with complex financial instruments has allowed him to connect to sophisticated investors worldwide that created the first platforms that allow investing in credit derivatives and statistical equity arbitrage strategies, as well as futures. This is in contrast to other investment strategies that are more generic. Eglitis claims that until 2011, Malta didn't have a global broker capable of meeting the needs of hedge fund managers who depend on leverage, competitive prices, and access to a variety of derivative instruments.

Broker Exante

Exante was established in Malta in 2011. It offered domestic traders the chance to have their funds domiciled in Malta and to realize their potential through a global infrastructure. Exante was at the time the only provider of global access for Maltese-based investors. It is important to remember that trade execution is only one aspect of the story. Exante was created by professionals such as Gatis Elglitis for professional traders to solve the problem of lack of sophistication in the regional trading market. Exante also houses a platform for multi-asset funds that operates entirely online. Funds can trade on global markets and can market their strategies to all Exante's global customers. Gatis Eglitis was the founder of Exante and made it a one-stop shop for all investors around the world.

Eglitis says that Exante doesn't aim to only serve high-profile clients with a proven track record of trading. Exante is open to dealing with any type of client, whether they are local, international or long-only equity investors. Exante's interface is intuitive and easy to use for novice traders. However, high frequency quant traders can benefit from its extensive offer. Gatis Eglitis emphasizes the importance of being accessible to traders who are less experienced. No matter how many transactions clients make per day, or whether they are simply purchasing and holding long-term instruments, it doesn't matter what their business model is. All traders are welcome, and pricing is the same regardless of their volume. Eglitis points out that Exante's core value is not sophistication, but accessibility. Exante offers all financial instruments via one account that has a debit card attached. Anyone can access any financial product anywhere in the world from this account. If you are looking to lower risk, it is essential to be able move as quickly as possible between asset classes. It is rare that a company offers clients the ability to manage assets in such a dynamic way.

Gatis Eglitis' global outlook was key to exhorting Exante to continue improving and expanding its trading partners. Exante now has access to over 400,000 financial instruments on more than 50 markets. This broad access gives traders the ability to benefit from large-scale events worldwide that enable them to build globally balanced portfolios.

Activities of third parties

Gatis Eglitis was invited to participate in many panel discussions about the most recent developments in finance and technology. Gatis Eglitis is passionate about a shift towards a greener and more sustainable way of living and business. Eglitis' decision to move from Denmark and Malta, which has a Mediterranean climate that is very barren, led to this conviction. Gatis Eglitis and his Exante team planted 250 trees in the following years. They have also been involved with a variety of projects since. Il-Gardina is the latest project. It is located at Sir Anthony Mamo Oncology Centre. Exante also encourages customers to donate.
